True Concept Development

Before actually attending the first day of my art 220 class, I had no clue the true meaning of concept development. I understood the definition as being as simple as it sounds:"developing ideas". But I have learned it is much more than that.

Concept Development, in terms of art and design, is defined as a form of illustration or art, where the main goal is to convey a visual representation of a design, idea, or mood which is used in either movies, music videos, video games, comic books, or animation, etc. before put into the final product. But what I learned was that is not just about coming up with ideas, it is also about finding yourself. This type of class is not like any other ordinary class, this class is rare amoungst most students. This class will help students grasp a better understanding of the word concept and the value it has in the field of design.

The purpose of concept development is to expand one's thinking process to a new level where new and better ideas can be projected. This will provide, according to Jimmy, "the fundamental conceptualization skills needed in a student's ideation process." In result, I am looking forward to the outcome of this course, despite that fact that there might be alot of work invovled.
However there is a couple of Things I am worried about:
  1. Difficulty in understanding or working too slowley
  2. Procrastination issues
  3. Too much work to handle
But these are problems I am going to have to overcome while taking this class and I believe this class will help me to do just that. I need to change my way of working which means I must also change my way of thinking. This is the idea/purpose of this class. I am looking forward to this journey through concept development.
